Dear Members and Friends of iEARN,

For the past 25 years — yes, 25 years! — iEARN’s teachers and students have been engaging in meaningful collaborative project work with peers around the world, with the goal of crossing boundaries, building understanding, and bettering the planet.  Since 1988, the iEARN community has grown to reach more than 45,000 educators and 2 million students in 135 countries. This incredible growth has been made possible through support from individuals like you.

Today we’re excited to share a new opportunity to forge global classroom connections. This fall, the U.S. Department of State awarded iEARN-USA a two-year grant program, Global Connections and Exchange 2.0, which will support teachers and students across the Middle East and North Africa to engage in cross-cultural projects with each other and with their U.S. peers. The program includes such countries as: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, and Yemen. Through the program, classrooms will have a chance to engage directly with one another in creative, real-world problem-solving through more than 200 of iEARN’s teacher designed and facilitated projects, including social action projects like Finding Solutions to Hunger Project; collaborative science projects, like the Daffodil and Tulip Projectand through creative writing projects, like the Folk Tales Project. Our students’ future success requires the critical modern skills and knowledge that these projects provide.

Our grant will provide professional development to up to 500 Middle East and North African educators. With your assistance, we aim to match this effort by supporting an additional 500 U.S. educators to join iEARN and engage with their colleagues across these 19 countries, and other countries throughout the iEARN network. To meet this goal, we are working to raise $50,000 by December 31st.  In these tumultuous times, we invite you to take action and be part of enabling 1,000 educators and 25,000 students to learn with each other, and to collaborate to make a meaningful contribution to the welfare of the planet and its people.

We’d love your help to enable as many U.S. classrooms as possible to participate in this exciting opportunity to engage in hands-on, people-to-people, global collaborative projects at a critical time in U.S.-Middle East relations.

For online donations, please visit our Global Connections Campaign page on Crowdrise where you will find the two of us and other members of our campaign team.  You can also donate by check (payable to iEARN-USA) sent to: 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 450, New York, NY

Thank you for believing in iEARN’s mission and supporting the amazing educators and students who bring it to life.
